Keller’s experience in the geotechnical engineering industry is now over 155 years. Tracing its origin back to the small town of Renchen in southwest Germany where, in 1860, Johann Keller founded a company mainly to construct water wells. Drilling and grouting techniques were added in the 1920s and in the 1930s the company invented the “Vibro” process for vibro compaction of sands at depth, In the 1930’s the Holmpress Piling Company was founded in the city of Hull in northeast England. This company along with Caledonian Foundations, was absorbed into the GKN group of companies to form GKN Foundations Limited in 1952. In 1974, the German and UK organisations, came together first as GKN Keller Ltd and then in 1989 under the present title of Keller Group PLC.
