A&P was originally established in 1954 as Mohammed Abdul Latif Almana & Bros and was awarded the dealership of Philips in the State of Qatar. This was followed by a further strategic partnership entered into in 1959 when it sponsored African & Eastern -the trading wing of Unilever Arabia in the Middle East. The company was renamed "Almana & Partners W.L.L." in 1989 after a restructuring of the business operations and divisions.
