Qatar Sailing & Rowing Federation (QSRF) was formed in May 2003. The main aim of the Federation was to ensure implementation of Olympic Charter and promotion of sports of Sailing, Rowing, Canoe-Kayak & Kiteboarding in the State of Qatar. The QSRF receives an annual grant from Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC). QOC is also responsible to provide funds for training of all athletes & the expenses of participation of Qatar National Teams at National and International Level. The QSRF is controlled by an Executive Committee under the President ship of Mr. Khalifa Mohd Al Sewaidi. QSRF conduct its all activities from the platform of Doha Sailing Club (DSC). Activities The federation has all facilities for sailing & Rowing; coaching with various types of boats. Following boats are available with Federation. Sailing i. Optimist ii. Laser 4.7 iii. Laser Radial iv. Laser Std. v. 420 vi. 470 vii. Hobbie -16 viii. Windsurfing ix. Beneteau 7.5 Rowing i. Single Scull ii. Double Sculls iii. Rowing Machine Canoe-Kayak i. Kayak I ii. Kayak II Kiteboarding i. We are in process to establish Kiteboarding centers all over Qatar. A new Sailing & Rowing School has been created. The Federation has full time Coaches and many part time coaches who take classes for the beginners. A very cordial atmosphere exists in the premises. We organize regular National & International Events. Sail the Gulf, Sail Qatar and Match Racing are three major events which are conducted every year and attended with great enthusiasm by all International Sailors. In addition, occasionally we World level events in sailing. The Federation believes in social activities. A number of functions, get together and social evenings are organized throughout the year.

The club established in 1951, has played a pioneering role in introducing, sustaining, and popularizing the sport of Golf in the State of Qatar. Since its humble beginning as 09-hole brown course with sand and oil mixture, was originally developed as an alternative for the grass course by oil drilling pioneers for the sport then known as “Dessert-Golf”. In 1959 the Course was further developed into 18-hole course in order to host the Middle East Oil Industry Golf Association (MEOIGA) Trophy Championships. Qatar Petroleum has since then taken pride in maintaining the course. The Club hosts the prestigious QP Challenge Trophy and several other sponsored competitions and championships. The Club members are QP senior staff (SS) and associate members.

With the diversification and intensification of sport activities and participation of the Qatar National Teams in international, regional, and continental competitions in the mid 1970's, the need for the establishment of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) was imminent. It was consequently founded on 14 March 1979, and joined the International, Continental and Regional Committees as follows:
1980: International Olympic Committee.
1981: Olympic Council of Asia.
1982: Arab Sports Games Federation.
Qatar started its participation in the Olympic Games in 1976. The first presence for Qatar was in the 21st Olympic Games, held in Montreal - Canada; where Qatar was represented by an administrative delegation. So far, Qatar have won four medals in the Olympic Games.
